The picture above is from Barr’s confirmation hearing before Senators. Before this hearing took place, I had the chance to read Barr’s letter to Rod Rosenstein where Barr describes in constitutional terms the authority and powers of the presidency. I thought President Trump had made a good choice.
Barr quoted Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey- “It would be like a Banana Republic putting political opponents in jail for offenses committed in a political setting even if they are criminal offenses, it’s something we just don’t do here.”
Barr went on to say that he held the same belief as Mukasey. That troubled me. I am conflicted as to whether Barr should leave the Justice Department. Barr isn’t applying his belief evenly across the political spectrum.
Roger Stone was a political opponent of the previous administration. The previous administration launched the Russian-Trump conspiracy hoax investigation that swept up Roger Stone. Stone hadn’t committed a crime until Congress and the Justice Department put him in an impossible position of jeopardy to remove his liberty.
The investigation was predicated on the Steele dossier, which was filled with provable disinformation from a British spy. By Barr’s standard, the Justice Department should have withdrawn the charges against Stone. 1. Stone was a political opponent. 2. Stone’s crimes were committed in a political setting. All the conditions have been meant in Barr’s quote of Mukasey.
Andrew McCabe lied under oath to FBI investigators and the Inspector General’s investigators. The Justice Department declined to charge McCabe for his three felonies. The reason stated was the felonies weren’t committed during a criminal investigation. The investigation was an internal administrative investigation. Any investigation may uncover criminality. Moreover, the reason the FBI put McCabe under oath was to uncover the truth and search for any criminal acts.
Hey, FBI, what’s the purpose of asking people in the FBI to swear to tell the truth if those people choose to lie and the Justice Department chooses not to charge them?
James Comey was recommended for prosecution by the Inspector General for his criminal acts of removing classified information from the FBI’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility[SCIF] and giving that information to unauthorized persons. Additionally, Comey had a SCIF at his home, but instead of storing the documents in there, he chose to place them in his personal safe. After he was fired by President Trump, FBI agents came to his home to collect the classified documents from Comey’s home’s SCIF; Comey did not disclose he had classified documents elsewhere in his home other than in the SCIF. To me, that shows intent to commit a crime. The Justice Department declined to prosecute Comey.
Are you seeing a pattern yet?
Just now, Stone was sentenced to forty months in prison and a 20K fine.
It is clear to all intellectually honest people that the Justice Department is a corrupt partisan machine for the Democratic Party and the shadow government.
