Yes, the House managers were correct, this wasn’t a trial. The Chief Justice was just a figure-head in this proceeding. This system rewarded liars. When bald-faced lies were told during the proceedings; there wasn’t a mechanism for the opposition to call-out the lies as lawyers do in real trials. In a real trial, the lawyers could lodge objections when the opposition told falsehoods or enter evidence that was altered. This system rewards the telling of lies and the introduction of altered evidence because there’s no risk of any penalties.
I rank myself as an expert on whether President Trump committed impeachable acts because I reviewed the following; the call transcription between Trump and Zelenskyy, the Whistleblower complaint, Lt Col. Vindman’s written statement, and his testimony, as well as, all the other public testimonies during the impeachment inquiries.
The President’s counsel mostly stayed within the boundaries of the truth. I wouldn’t represent they lied on any fact, but I will say the President’s counsel did some cherry-picking during their rebuttals arguments to the House managers case.
By contrast, the House managers lied, lied, and lied throughout the proceedings. Adam Schiff, by far was head and shoulders above any of his fellow House managers in his telling of bald-faced lies. Schiff to my amusement warned of future crimes that would follow the President’s current thought crimes. Schiff in his closing statement warned the Senators if they didn’t vote to convict, President Trump might give Alaska to Russia in exchange for them helping him cheat in this coming election. To be sure, Congress would have to approve any gift or sale of any U.S. territory.
The House managers played many deceptively edited videos of testimonials and the President speaking before reporters. I was appalled that Chief Justice Roberts only sat like a lump of coal when those videos were played as impeachable evidence.
The House managers only played a small clip from what Trump says about his article II powers as president. “My article II powers give me the right to do whatever I want.” The House managers kept repeating that quote throughout their presentations. Oh, to be sure, when President Trump spoke that line, that was a gift to the House managers. But that line was in the context that a president may dismiss any appointee in the Executive Branch which Robert Mueller was as the Special Counsel.
Eric Swalwell is heard in this clip stating he wants to kill President Trump. Swalwell; “And I just want to take this president out.” Of course, I took that line out of context. Swalwell was speaking to the FBI director yesterday and I saw my opportunity to make my point on context. The full sentence was; “I just want to take this president out of the discussion for the moment.”
The House managers didn’t draw the line at just misquoting the President; they on day two began misquoting the President’s counsel and playing videos that were deceptively edited of what the President’s counsel had said on the previous day. And still, Chief Justice Roberts sat there like a lump of coal, doing nothing.
Much to my amusement, the Democrats criticized the President’s counsel for a lack of diversity. Nancy Pelosi saw to it that she had diversity in her House managers, and yet, diversity didn’t prevail to win a conviction in this proceeding in the Senate.
The House managers’ case was based on mindreading, hearsay, and lies. As for Mitt Romney’s vote to convict on the charge of abuse of power, he was mistaken. I believe him when he said he weighed the evidence. However, no one heard President Trump make any demands of President Zelenskyy. There was a lot of wishful hallucinating that he had made those demands of Zelenskyy during the phone call that started this sleigh ride to impeachment. Lt Col. Vindman did this wishful hallucinating and I believe Vindman sought out a person in the CIA to lodge the complaint. No one heard President Trump say he wanted an investigation of Biden in exchange for promised aid that has testified under oath.
