I knew little about Elon Musk before 2019. Tesla and SpaceX are Musk’s creations. Electric cars don’t thrill me, nor do electric-powered aircraft. The issue with any vehicle that is battery powered is the batteries’ weight remains throughout the trip. In liquid-fueled vehicles, the fuel weight lessens as the fuel is burned for propulsion, and thereby extends the range of the vehicle, as well as, the possibility of going faster because of the diminished weight. The additional drawback to battery power is the charge time.

What thrills me is SpaceX rockets. It is wondrous to see the boosters descend under power to land on a ship or on the landing pad from which it took off earlier. All puzzling to me, there are astronauts who are critical of Musk for doing a more cost-effective method of getting payloads into space than NASA did through its years of efforts.

Musk is a free speech advocate. Musk has said Twitter has become the de facto public square. Musk has been troubled by the censorship by Twitter’s Overlords. After Musk announced his intentions to buy Twitter, the Democrats, and their allies came for Musk with long knives drawn. On SNL’s weekend update, the comedian said of Musk, he wants freedom of speech so white people can say the N-word on Twitter. Hollywood has in mass gathered together to slander Musk on Twitter.
